GLA:
Glasgow International 2025 - Where the City Becomes a Living Gallery

Every two years, Glasgow sheds its industrial skin and transforms into one of Europe's most dynamic contemporary art destinations. Glasgow International (GI), running from February 1-23, 2025, will once again flood the city's museums, abandoned warehouses, and even subway stations with cutting-edge installations and performances.

A Citywide Artistic Rebellion

This year's theme, "The Radical Everyday," promises to challenge perceptions across 30+ venues:

  • The Tramway hosts large-scale immersive installations
  • Glasgow School of Art alumni present in the Mackintosh Building's restored spaces
  • Surprise pop-ups in working-class neighborhoods like Govan and Possilpark

"GI has always been about art that punches you in the gut," says curator Tessa Giblin. "In 2025, we're particularly focused on works that repurpose Glasgow's post-industrial spaces."

Must-See Highlights

  • The Dirty Weekender - A 48-hour marathon of performance art at SWG3
  • Clyde Waterfront Project - Floating installations reacting to tidal changes
  • Late Night Gallery Hops - With special shuttle buses between venues

Why Art Lovers Should Fly to Glasgow

Unlike the polished biennales of Venice or Basel, GI retains Glasgow's raw, punk energy:

  • 90% of events are free
  • Artists regularly attend their own openings
  • The afterparties are legendary - particularly at the infamous Nice'n'Sleazy bar

PrestigeFly Travel Agency crafts the perfect art pilgrimage:
✈️ Overnight business class from NYC on Virgin Atlantic
🛏️ Boutique stays at The Z Hotel, surrounded by gallery districts
🎨 Curated tours with GI artists and organizers

"We've secured early access to several warehouse installations," reveals PrestigeFly's art specialist Darren McLeod. "One client described GI as 'the anti-Frieze - all heart, no hype.'"
