SPU:
Hvar's Lavender Fields Turn Purple - And the Photos Will Take Your Breath Away

The drone of bees drowns out all other sounds as you wade through waist-high lavender on Hvar's Stari Grad Plain. This year's bloom is particularly spectacular - climate scientists say the warm spring created a "purple tsunami" across the UNESCO-protected fields. Local farmer Nikola Bošković hands you scissors and a basket. "Cut only the stems with seven flowers," he instructs. "That's when the oil is perfect."

New for the 2025 Lavender Festival:
"Painting With Purple" workshops using natural dyes
Lavender honey tastings in a 500-year-old stone hut
Sunset sound baths where gong vibrations send petals fluttering

But the real magic happens at dusk, when the fields seem to glow from within. Photographer Lana Petrić reveals her secret: "The limestone bedrock reflects the sunset at exactly 8:17 PM for twelve perfect minutes."

Insider Tip: The best-smelling souvenir isn't sachets - it's lavender ice cream from Nonica Mia stand.
